The owner of TreeHouse Drums and I go back to my undergrad days at Washburn University. Derek Sharp is the man responsible for Topeka’s best sounding drums, and arguably the best sounding drums in the Midwest at least! This man (and his excellent staff) puts his whole heart and soul into each and every drum he designs, and you can hear it in the video’s introduction below.

Derek and I reconnected after I developed an intense craving for concert toms to add my drumset. I was playing with 90 Proof Project at the time, and wanted that “barking“ tom-tom sound that no doubt came from listening to lots of Phil Collins. Time to bring this sound back!

Derek made these incredible concert toms, which you can see in the picture above. My bandmates and the audience noticed the sound difference as well! One of these days, my whole drumset will be TreeHouse, and I can see them becoming a part of my drum lessons too...but let’s not get ahead of ourselves.

Check out this video to learn about TreeHouse and Derek Sharp!
